As Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), defines it: “Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally.”
Mindfulness is the practice of bringing full attention to the present moment with openness and non-judgment. It involves becoming more aware of thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations as they arise, gaining a greater self awareness, allowing for greater clarity, calm, balance, empowerment and intentionality in daily life. Rooted in both ancient wisdom and modern science, mindfulness is widely used to work to reduce stress, improve focus, and support overall well-being.
"And men go abroad to admire the heights of mountains, the mighty waves of the sea, the broad tides of rivers, the compass of the ocean, and the circuits of the stars, yet pass over the mystery of themselves without a thought." Saint Augustine
