WHAT IS MINDFULNESS?
"Mindfulness is about love and loving life. When you cultivate this love, it gives you clarity and compassion for life, and your actions happen in accordance with that."
"Mindfulness is the awareness that arises through paying attention on purpose in the present moment — non-judgmentally."
This kind of attention nurtures greater awareness, clarity, and acceptance of the present-moment reality."
"It wakes us up to the fact that our lives unfold only in moments."
"If we are not fully present for many of those moments, we may not only miss what is most valuable in our lives but also fail to realize the richness and the depth of our possibilities for growth and transformation.”
- Jon Kabat-Zinn
For most of us, when this happens it's unexpected, maybe while walking on a mountain trail or beach on a crisp autumn day, or being so focused in work or play that you are not thinking about past or future, or connecting with someone in a way that makes it seem like time is standing still. This state of being alive is always available, but it typically eludes us, especially in times of DOING vs BEING.
